Prof Samuel AU is a Professor of the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering and Department of Surgery (by courtesy) at CUHK; Founding Co-Director of Multiscale Medical Robotics Center of InnoHK Research Cluster; and President of Cornerstone Robotics since 2020. Prof Au co-invented the FDA cleared da Vinci Si Single-Site surgical platform (2012), the Single-Site Wristed Needle Driver (2014), and the da Vinci Xi Single-Site surgical platform (2016). He has won numerous awards including first prize in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Student Mechanism Design Competition (2007), Intuitive Surgical Problem-Solving Award (2010), and Intuitive Surgical Inventor Award (2011).
