Experienced enterprise technology and operations leader and innovator, with a history of guiding successful global digital transformation and modernization initiatives. Anil currently operates as an advisor in the firm he founded - Phase IV Ventures LLC. Leveraging his Board, CIO and consulting experience, he has worked closely with McKinsey & Co, Private Equity and Venture Capital firms in providing advice to Banks, technology firms and late-stage growth start-ups. Anil Cheriyan was Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Cognizant Technology Solutions – a leading global technology services company. His responsibilities included the firm’s corporate strategy, partnerships, accelerators as well as the internal information technology and security. In this capacity, he was instrumental in upgrading the firm’s cybersecurity posture, driving “client-zero” technologies – such as Artificial Intelligence, and instituting the “voice of the client” by establishing Cognizant’s Client Advisory Board. He was a regular participant in the firm’s Board of Directors meetings. Prior to Cognizant, he served as the White House Presidential Appointee in charge of Technology Transformation Services (TTS) with the mission of “making the lives of the public better through technology”. Working closely with the White House, Agency leadership, the Federal CIO community, he helped accelerate the digital transformation of several federal agencies leveraging industry-leading talent in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Cloud, Digital Platforms, Data & Analytics, Identity, and Citizen Experience. Mr. Cheriyan served as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer at SunTrust Banks now Truist, where he led the digital and data transformation of the bank; drove capabilities such as cloud, AI/robotics, digital transformation, data, payments, and core banking and increased the bank’s market presence in the rapidly evolving digital, financial marketplace. As CIO, Mr. Cheriyan was responsible for SunTrust’s overall information technology, cyber security, and business enterprise operations. He reported directly to the Chairman / CEO and was instrumental in advising the Executive Committee and Board of Directors on the Bank’s technology direction. Prior to joining SunTrust, Mr. Cheriyan was a Vice President / senior partner at IBM Global Business Services, where he served financial services clients and led the Insurance Industry practice. Before joining IBM, he was a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting where he led several global, industry and technology practices. In his consulting career, Cheriyan worked closely with several Fortune 500 companies in their business and technology transformation and built the reputation of always delivering measurable business results.
