She is the President & CEO for GE Renewable Energy’s Onshore Wind business (Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey) driving growth and operations by combining technology, services, and digital solutions across the renewable energy landscape. She was Director General of Health Care & Life Sciences at the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority. 

Josh Giegel

Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder, Virgin Hyperloop

Developed the world’s 1st reusable rockets – now developing the hyperloop.

Josh leads a team of engineers making the hyperloop a reality. Before, he led research activities at Echogen Power Systems, being the sole inventor of 4 critical CO2 power cycles, improving effiency and lowering costs. Giegel was lead analysis at SpaceX on 6 successfully tested rocket engines, like the Merlin 1D and Super Draco family of engines.

Benoit is the executive director of the International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation, a partnership of the world’s largest economies mandated to coordinate implementation of the G20’s activities on energy efficiency. He has had an extensive career in the fields of energy efficiency, climate change mitigation, and clean energy policies.

Harry Verhaar
Vice-President and Head of Global Public & Government Affairs, Signify
A recipient of the 2011 UN Leader of Change Award.

Harry Verhaar has over 20 years of experience in the lighting industry and is Head of Global Public & Government Affairs and Vice-President at Signify. He is responsible for the strategy, outreach and stakeholder management on energy & climate change, resource efficiency and sustainable development, with a key focus on the role of the LED lighting revolution. He is also the chairman of the Signify Foundation.

He has since the end of 2003 been the architect of the Signify strategy on energy and climate change, which has resulted in a global momentum on phasing out of old lighting technologies.

He is an active member of a number of partnership and stakeholder networks, among which The Climate Group; Regions20, the World Green Building Council and of the UN Environment Science Business Policy governing consortium. He is responsible for Signify’s relationship with the World Economic Forum and the UN. He is chairman of the European Alliance to Save Energy and of the Corporate Leadership Group Europe, and is a former president and co-founder of the Global Off-Grid Lighting Association.

Harry is a recipient of the 2011 UN Leader of Change Award, and has received the Carbon War Room’s Gigaton award on behalf of Philips at COP17 in Durban. In May 2015 he received the Energy Efficiency Visionary Award from the Alliance to Save Energy in Washington DC. He holds a MSc in Solid State Luminescence from the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands.

Signify became the new company name of Philips Lighting as of May 16, 2018.

Omar Saleh

Omar joined Microsoft Arabia in September, 2020 to lead Enterprise Business. In this role Omar oversees strategic partnerships and business operations with Microsoft’s customers in Saudi across Retail, Energy, Manufacturing, Telco, and Financial Services industries. 

Prior to this role and over the previous 6 years, Omar led the Energy & Manufacturing business for Microsoft across the Middle East & Africa (MEA). In this role he led Microsoft’s strategy delivering on Digital Transformation and partnering with customers across MEA in Oil & Gas, Mining, Power & Utilities and Manufacturing. Omar also developed and oversaw the launching of Microsoft’s Energy Core – a global initiative set to accelerate Digital Transformation, drive responsible Innovation, tackle the skills gap, as well as contribute to the energy industry outlooks for sustainability and societal impact.

Earlier in his career, Omar worked in executive and consulting roles across a host of industry and technology corporations including Eni, Schlumberger, Chevron, and Sun Microsystems.

Throughout his tenure, Omar developed rewarding partnerships with his customers, always leading with a growth mindset, enthusiasm and unwavering commitment in creating an inclusive and diverse working environment.

Frank Wolak

Mr. Wolak has experience in all facets of energy including executive positions outside the fuel cell and hydrogen industry.

Mr. Wolak is the President and CEO of the Washington DC based Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Association (FCHEA), an organization that represents over sixty leading international and domestic companies and organizations that are advancing innovative, clean, safe, and reliable energy technologies. Prior to FCHEA, Mr. Wolak was a Senior Vice President at FuelCell Energy, Inc. (FCE). 

At FCE Mr. Wolak initiated and developed some of the most innovative and largest fuel cell technology applications in the world. In addition to his business successes, Mr. Wolak worked closely with the US Department of Energy, Congress and state agencies to define and sustain programs for hydrogen and fuel cells throughout the US.

Sanjay Shrestha

Sanjay joined Plug Power as Chief Strategy Officer in 2019. Prior to joining Plug Power, Mr. Shrestha served as the CIO of a global solar IPP and President Sky Capital Americas since 2015.  Under his leadership, Sky Capital America built and acquired over 100MW of operating solar assets and secured pipeline over 100MW. 

He also sourced various types of financing solutions to support this growth including project debt, construction equity and long-term equity. He brings almost two decades of experience in the broader clean tech sector to our team. Before global solar IPP, he led the renewables investment banking effort at FBR Capital markets. During 2014, and under his leadership, the firm was ranked among the top renewable energy underwriters in the U.S.

Rana Adib

Executive Director, REN21

At REN21, Rana developed a 900+ international expert community and leads the REN21 Renewables Global Status Report series.



Rana is an international programme manager, multi-stakeholder governance expert, with more than 20 years of experience in in developing and implementing thematically innovative and cross-cutting projects in sustainable energy, environmental services and development. She has worked in research and development, industry, international organisations, and NGOs, at the cross-roads of technology, business, marketing, and policy.

At Veolia Environment, she created the biogas-to-energy R&D programme to develop business opportunities in waste treatment, energy and transport. At Fraunhofer ISE, she developed microcredit for energy access and set up and coordinated the German industry association for off-grid electrification.

Matthew Early

VP, Facilities Management, King Abdullah University of Science & Technology

Matthew is a Professional Civil Engineer with 30+ years of experience in facilities management, design and construction, capital planning, public safety & transportation, real estate and environmental compliance.

Matthew Early joined KAUST in 2019 as Vice President of Facilities Management. Before joining KAUST, Matthew was the Vice President of Campus Services at Emory University in Atlanta Georgia, Leading a team of over 800 employees and an annual budget of $140M. During his stay in Emory, he developed an extensive annual capital renewal plan that categorized and maintained all assets, in ‘real time’ and this program achieved overall University Facilities Condition Index above peer institutions.

He led the development and execution of the first “WaterHub” in North America; it processes raw sewer water into clean reclaimed water for resupplying makeup water and reduced Emory’s domestic water footprint by 40%. In addition, he developed a new “zero-waste policy”, which will help the University to divert 79% of campus waste from municipal landfills with a goal of 95% by 2025. And he successfully executed $630M in new construction and commissioned $538M in new construction which all achieved LEED Silver and above.
